Mirrors and AR coating for high power lasers

写真:高出力レーザー用ミラー・ARコーティング

Optical Coatings Japan began the development of coating technology for lasers in the 1970s. Our products have been used in fields such as laser beam processing equipment, microscopes and semiconductor inspection equipment, and have contributed to the development of laser technology.

Coatings for use with lasers are required to have high durability against lasers in order to reduce loss due to absorption and scattering and to prevent damage to the components. Based on the type of laser used by the customer, Optical Coatings Japan selects the most suitable film formation material (fluorides and oxides) and film formation process (vacuum deposition, IAD, IBS), and designs the thin film with consideration of the electric field strength. As a result of those efforts, we have consistently received top level evaluations in the laser-induced damage threshold database testing conducted by the National Institute for Laser Technology.

We will continue to work on the development of highly durable laser mirrors and AR coatings to contribute to the development of laser technology.
